Snow in Yoshiwara

Urazato, the Yoshiwara courtesan kneeling in the snow, bound with rope by her employer in the snowy courtyard after discovering her affair with the young samurai, Tokijirō. A lock of hair is clenched between her teeth as she looks up out of the corners of her eyes to find that Tokijirō has come to rescue her.
It is based on the Kabuki play Akegarasu Hana no Nureginu, which was shown at the Theatre Ichimuraza in 1851.
