Nakamura Kichiemon I as warrior Katô Kiyomasa
Nakamura Kichiemon I (1886-1954) was a leading kabuki actor of the first half of the 20th century. He had a strong interest in the historical figure, Katô Kiyomasa (1562-1611), one of Japan’s most famous commanders during a time of civil war. Kichieimon created several new plays in which he acts as Kiyomasa.
